The reason why you’re getting this error is because you need to change your SMTP settings in Outlook.
Even though you may be using Yahoo’s SMTP server address, you will have to change this address to match your internet service provider.
Many providers of broadband internet require that you use their smtp addresses.
Contact your internet company (e.g. Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner, etc.) and ask them what SMTP settings you need for Outlook. You can also find this information on their website.
Once you have their SMTP settings, change your Outlook profile:
Microsoft Outlook 2000/XP/2003 on Windows
click on the Tools menu and choose Email Accounts
verify that View or change existing e-mail accounts is selected then click on the Next button
select the account that corresponds to your email account then click on the Change button
click on the More Settings button
click on the Outgoing Server tab
If your internet company requires it, choose the following:
verify that the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox is checked
verify that the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option is selected
click on the Advanced tab
verify that the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) checkbox is checked
click on the OK button to close the Internet E-mail Settings pop-up
click on the Next button
click on the Finish button
