Strange Question ~ What did I see ?
Question by LotusBlossomsx: Strange Question ~ What did I see ?
At the age of 6, I was living in a prior house with both of my parents. (Who are now separated, and have been since I was 11) I recently turned 21, so it’s been a while.. Well they had argued A LOT: physical and emotional abuse occurred. There was tremendous amount of bad energy in the house because of it.
One night while sleeping in my room at the end of the hall, I awoke and saw a “smaller version” of my father appear close by my bed. It freaked me out completely, but I was rational enough at that age to think it was just a dream **trying to wake up and what not**, yet I knew something didn’t feel right. My second thought was, “It’s a ghost!!” But, how could it be my dad is alive and well? I can’t remember if there was more than one apparition, but I do remember that my father’s apparition was almost as if he was really there but only a lot smaller than his actual size,it was almost as if there was a television screen playing him out. I know it sounds really creepy aha! He also “noticed” I was watching him after a while.. When I first saw him there he seemed as if he was doing something that was holding his attention I remember thinking,”I hope he doesn’t notice me.. Please don’t let him see me!!” But eventually he looked over at me and then and started gesturing to me. It is just so strange.. That’s why I’ve always come to think about it over time being to scared to it let be known that this had occurred to me. It just felt so weird wanting to say “Hey mom I saw the creepiest thing in my room last night,” and then seeing my father in real life standing right next to her..
*Both parents are still alive now* I was closer to my mother most of the time but always have had an understanding connection with Daddy. I now am closer to my father however..*
Nothing like that has occurred since.
Anyone have any ideas on this?
Was it just a dream perhaps?
Thank you in advance ~

You saw a stress induced hallucination and nothing more. It was easier to access because you were already in a dream state.

Sounds like you may have experienced some form of hypnagogia, see here:

I myself have experienced sleep paralysis (its covered in the article)many times in my life. It was not accompanied by visions, but was unnerving.
Hope this helps.

LikeDislikeIt is POSSIBLE, but UNLIKELY that your father was exploiting a clever stage trick known as Pepper’s Ghost. To achieve this, you place some glass at a 45 degree angle, and point it somewhere where someone could stand but not be seen by the person. Your father could have positioned the glass by your bedroom, at a slant so it points out the door, then could’ve gone out into the corridor and stood in front of the glass, you would’ve seen his reflection in a transparent mirror, and in the darkness, this can be used to effectively perpetuate a ghost. It’s possible, again, but unlikely, as I’m not sure what motive a dad would have for creating a Pepper’s Ghost in your room.
The second possibility is that you were hallucinating. It’s possible to hallucinate without the use of drugs, simply an overactive imagination can trigger a hallucination in some people.

LikeDislikeBecause of the extreme emotions that occurred, it could be residual. Just a thought.
