Question regarding “Moral waivers”?
Question by DJ: Question regarding “Moral waivers”?
Does anyone know if the army is still accepting moral waivers. I’m in the process of enlisting (since Dec 2007) and have met all requirements except for the fact that I have a pretty lengthy juvenile past. I’ve been out of trouble and haven’t even gotten a speeding ticket in more then 4 years. I was told by my recruiter that I would require a moral waiver. Problem is I was told by 2 different recruiters that the army is not issuing moral waivers “until further notice” Does anyone know when they will accept moral waivers again and what I might be able to expect…..?

Thanks
Thanks to those that responded. To clarify things a little better. I have 2 charges that i received in NJ. Now because I was a minor technically I was ajudicated in a family court(Not convicted) and recieved 2 years probation (recieved early termination for good behavior) I now live in AZ and both of those charges are what seem to be considered felonies(not in NJ). I do realize that there are some law differences between the 2 states and also juvenile law.Eitherway I was told I would be able to get both waived worst case scenario with a ” felony moral waiver” However i was told by the recruiter that the army is not currently excepting felony moral waivers.

Your recruiter would be the best source for that information. They will have the information as soon as a change comes out.

Almost anything is waiverable to a point. The term “moral waiver” is unspecific and really doesnt describe what you are getting a waiver for. Sounds like you did something too bad to be waived.

Not sure you can also go to http://www.goarmy.com/flindex.jsp?#?channel=&video= and ask either SGT. Star or wait until the chat room opens and ask them.

If you qualify pending a moral waiver, a few things may depend on your wait. If you have so many law violations, your education may make a difference. GED’s or only allowed 1 felony. Highschool Graduates may have 2 depending on what they are.

LikeDislikeI am not sure about the suspension of moral waivers. I can find out about that for you if you contact me. The straight answer on this is that your juvenile record is sealed at age 18. If you have stayed out of trouble for the last four years, and are age 18, you should be fine. Providing all probations has been served, fines paid and everything signed off.
