Q&A: have you even noticed that mainstreem “black music” is different from “white music”?
Question by Casie Blaize: have you even noticed that mainstreem “black music” is different from “white music”?
im talking about legit r&b and rap and stuff like that, althought you dont have to be black to listen to it but the music that they make (im black btw) i have noticed that they are waay more sexual here are some more popular songs that talk about nothing but strait forward sex
make a movie- chris brown and twista
no bulls*hit- chris brown
motivation- kelly
love faces- chris brown
down on me- jermimah and 50 cent
but i have noticed that “white people” pop music, does not talk about sex all out and open like rap songs do even though that are also mainstreem.. why
do you think this is?
PLEASE do not make this question white vs black. please be logical.

Black music sucks.
Let’s take Soulja Boy as an example. His music makes no sense, yet all of a sudden you see black people getting up and having sex on the dance floor.

I wonder do white people play music during or before sex?

LikeDislikeMaybe now that blacks have found some media where they can say anything they want, they’re just testing it to see how far they can take it.

LikeDislikeYeah, but black pop and white pop music sound a bit more similar than they used to be.
Black music definitely doesn’t suck if you listen to Black music that isn’t mainstream.
Soulja Boy is a bad representation of Black music.

LikeDislikeYes, it’s this generation that we live in. Back in time rythym and blues wasn’t just about sex, it was about love, life, and issues, but we’ve lost our way as a people.
Not trying to big up white people and other people’s music, but the majority of their songs are about love, not about who and how they’re screwing.
Many black people have set themselves at an all time low.

LikeDislikeThere is a lot of great “black music”, but you speak the truth..and I don’t listen to that crap…but then maybe I’m not their demographic
@sweetie85…yes we do play music before during and after sex…but we don’t require detailed instructional lyrics.

LikeDislikeRap is just plain stupid now and R&B was made to be sexual. The very basis for that genre is romance and sexual contact. In fact all the songs you listed would be considered as R&B. In white pop music I hear them sing about sex all the time, it’s just that in White music, they never seem to add a sexy beat to go with the lyrics like with Black music.

LikeDislikeMost ‘mainstream’ Western music is either originally Black or heavily influenced by Black Music. Not all but a lot of the music is, including ‘rock’ which is so stereotypically European/White.
Its just simply incorrect to state that rap music has more sexual themes than other music. Show many any current mainstream music that doesn’t! Hip-Hop originally dealt with social issues rather than sexual ones..

LikeDislikeThe biggest difference between “white” music and “black” music is ad libs. Pop artists don’t ad lib.

LikeDislikeI hate mainstream rap but you have to admit most pop songs talk about sex too, but probably more subtly like: If You Seek Amy – Britney Spears, Shake It – Metro Station, F*ck the pain away – Peaches, Blah Blah Blah – Kesha, every 3OH3 song. I’m a fan of these singers but their songs are sexual.
EDIT: Oh my, and how could I forget Lady Gaga.
