Q&A: Has anyone else noticed “careless” driving by Fedex driver’s?
Question by S M: Has anyone else noticed “careless” driving by Fedex driver’s?
I hope this doesnt start any fights… I am just curious if anyone else has noticed dangerous driving from a Fedex person? Today a Fedex truck came flying down our road probably going around 35-45 mph he dropped the package off at one of our neighbors house.. meanwhile my bf and I were sitting outside..then the fedex guy came speeding right past our house when suddenly we heard a thunk… shortly after the fedex guy approached me and asked “is that your dog that was running around?” and I seriously thought he was kidding when he said “I hit it.” Now keep in mind we live out in the country and my dog is kenneled when we are not here but I let her out and it was barely 5 minutes after I let her out he had hit her. She had NOT crossed the road but merely ran along his truck. She does this very frequently when I let her out and he even stated that… And if he knew that she runs along his truck why in the world would he go so fast through our neighborhood (there are three other houses that are very close to us that also own dogs)… The sight of my best friend laying mangled on the pavement swept me to my knees. Her collar was laying about 5 feet behind her and it was broke and her face was basically just a bunch of bone coming out everywhere. If the driver was going only around 15-25 mph there is no way that much damage would have been done to my dog. She died instantly. My neighbors saw what had happened and they came down and they even stated that they have nearly been ran off the road because the fedex driver’s just don’t know how to stay on their own side of the road depending on what driver it is. And the neighbors even noticed how fast the driver goes… He’s lucky we don’t have any young children in our neighborhood. The weird thing is I dont think that the driver was even going to stop and tell us about our dog being hit because he slowed down and just started driving past our house really slow until he saw us sitting there .. then he backed up into our driveway…
hmm… I think these driver’s need to slow it down abit … and if they have to make a “deadline” then maybe that should be changed. It is not safe!
My dog never ran along cars on a regular basis ok.. She just ran up by a fedex or ups truck and has been doing that ever since we found her (someone abondoned her)… she was an old dog and never did any harm. the speed limit in our area is 25 mph and we DID file a complaint with fedex… i was asking if others have noticed how the drivers are so please keep to that topic ..
or I should say that she ONLY ran along fedex and ups trucks..

Yes, Yes, Yes.. not just the delivery drivers, but also the over the road drivers.
These guys have a CDL and are supposed to be professional drivers and they
push it to the limit in every conceivable way, so please don’t get in their way!

im sorry about your dog but any dog that runs along side of cars is not going to be long for this world.as for the speed you never said what the speed limit was.if the drivers are going over the speed limit all you have to do is call fedex and i bet thay wont be speeding on you road any more.

LikeDislikeWell first – sorry to hear about the loss of your dog, that’s very sad.
Whereas I can’t comment on the negligence of FedEx drivers in your area, where I live I’ve never noticed a problem. Your assumption that your dog wouldn’t get hurt/killed if the truck was going the speed limit though is definitely wrong though – have you ever walked into a door, pole, or wall by accident? Typical walking speeds are between 2-3 MPH – but it still hurt, right? People have broken noses and busted open cuts on faces/heads at that speed – now multiply it by perhaps 10 times? And that’s just an impact assumption – if the trucks tire(s) went over the dog, the speed is irrelevant, it would have killed him/her, the weight is just too much.
So it sounds like they do need to slow down in your neighborhood, but if you decide to get another dog somewhere down the road, please work hard to train him/her to stay out of the road. I lost a dog in a similar accident once, so I know how you feel.
good luck
