Question by Nicole: “Notice” from Illinois Department of Revenue?
I went on the internet to the llinois Department of Revenue’s web site to verify the status of my tax return. When I query my return it exhibits up as an existing difficulty (issues) with 2008 tax return. I did file my return six months late without filing an extension.

It said they mailed a notice. However, I have not received anything at all. Attempted to call but they are closed right now.

Any individual right here have an idea what variety of notices the state would mail. I have in no way had an problem with my tax return.

If you had to pay in funds when you filed then they are going to charge you interest for being late.

They are probably conducting an internal audit of all of your previous returns appropriate now, that is why you haven’t gotten the notice yet. If they decide that you did this intentionally, which is likely, they’ll access a punitive fine on top rated of the interest they’ll charge you.

Otherwise they may just send a warning. Despite the fact that it is illegal to file late, if you didn’t owe them money they almost certainly will not make a big deal out of it. Just the same, they are possibly auditing all of your current returns.
